Storm Water & Water Quality
Stormwater is a common consideration for DOT&PF projects. Stormwater is runoff generated from rain and snowmelt that, as it flows over land and impervious surfaces, accumulates debris, sediment, chemicals, and other pollutants that could adversely affect water quality when discharged untreated. Most stormwater discharges are considered point sources and require coverage under a NPDES permit. In Alaska, the Dept. of Environmental Conservation is the stormwater permitting authority. This page contains information and resources to assist in stormwater compliance.
