| North Richardson Byway Corridor Planning Kick-Off Meetings Held
A series of public meetings were held in Fairbanks and Delta Junction on January 8th and 9th to kick-off the development of a Corridor Partnership Plan for the North Richardson State Scenic Byway. Meetings were well attended and lots of new ideas for the byway were generated. At least eleven individuals volunteered to be on the advisory team for the planning project. Preparation of byway corridor plans is entirely voluntary, however once completed, the plan enables the state byway to apply for scenic byway grants or seek national designation. The project is being administered by ADOT&PF with funding from a National Scenic Byways grant and additional in-kind contributions by the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau and the City of Delta Junction. 2007 National Scenic Byway Grant Awards total $453,051 The U.S. Department of Transportation approved six 2007 Scenic Byway grants, totaling $453,051, for Alaska. The projects approved include:

Haines State Scenic Byway Corridor Partnership is now complete!
The Haines Borough recently completed a Corridor Partnership Plan (CPP) for the Haines Highway State Scenic Byway. The community prepared the plan in hopes of attaining national byway status and to define an integrated tourism product that uses the Haines Highway as its backbone. The CPP will also make projects that implement the plan eligible to compete for scenic byway grant dollars. The Haines Highway was designated a State Scenic Byway in 1998 for having outstanding scenic, natural, historic and recreational qualities. It is widely known for the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve which hosts the world's largest congregation of bald eagles in one location.
Glenn Highway Byway Association begins a Public Relations Outreach Program The association for the Glenn Highway National Scenic Byway (NSB) is currently working on a Public Relations Outreach program that they hope to implement this summer. The goal of the project is to reverse a recent decline in visitor traffic on the Glenn Highway that resulted from various construction projects. In addition to providing media releases about road construction events this summer, the byways group will be releasing an Audio Tour Guide on Compact Disc for independent travelers on the byway. The group is also producing a "Step on Guide" that will provide an outline and narrative of each interpretive point along the byway that can be used by Tour Operators. SEAtrails develops resource maps for AMHS byway communities in SE Alaska
SEAtrails Inc. will be producing community maps thanks to the award of a National Scenic Byways grant. “The community maps will provide a greater level of detail about the cultural, recreational, scenic and historical values along Alaska’s Marine Highway System All-American Road in Southeast Alaska,” says Ron Crenshaw, SEAtrails board chair. Project partners include the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service (RTCA Program), Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development and Public Facilities. SEAtrails collaborates with organizations, groups and agencies to attract independent travelers, adventure travelers and local visitors to Southeast Alaska . The 19 SEAtrails member communities include Angoon, Coffman Cove, Craig, Gustavus, Haines, Hoonah, Hydaburg, Juneau, Kake, Ketchikan, Naukati, Pelican, Petersburg, Sitka, Skagway, Thorne Bay, Whale Pass, Wrangell and Yakutat. SEAtrails is a 501(c)3 non-profit run by a nine-member volunteer board spread throughout Southeast Alaska.
