Q. If a bridge were constructed what benefits do you see? What concerns do you have?

A. Benefits would be derived in future years from oil exploration & development.

Q.With the construction of a bridge, closure of one or two airports is likely to occur. What impact would this have on your family, work, etc?

A. I think it would provide jobs & have a greater economic impact than people think. I think Naknek Airport should be turned over to Paug-Vik & So. Naknek be maintained by DOT along with AKN (King Salmon) Airport.

Q. What other issues need to be examined during this study?

A. Social & cultural - improved quality of salmon

Josephine Savo

Q. If a bridge were constructed what benefits do you see? What concerns do you have?

A. People would have access to more jobs. A lot of people would like to attend the voc-tec at King Salmon but with airfare can't afford to.The school would benefit and the safety of our children from flying twice a day. The goods I feel outweigh the bad.

Q.With the construction of a bridge, closure of one or two airports is likely to occur. What impact would this have on your family, work, etc?

A. On my personal family none. I do know some air taxis would be affected but I would hope no longer flights would be more available to them which is better for their business.

Q. What other issues need to be examined during this study?

A. The airports. I live in South Naknek and I am in favor of the bridge while I am still able to drive and I am not getting any younger. I would like to see it moved up the ladder as a priority for our children safety and EMS. But I know we still need an airport in this village and for salmon to be transported quickly we have a great runway and would be a shame to close it.

Q. If a bridge were constructed what benefits do you see? What concerns do you have?

A. More people could find work and come back home to live. Safety is a vital factor whereas children would not have to fly in inclement weather.

Q.With the construction of a bridge, closure of one or two airports is likely to occur. What impact would this have on your family, work, etc?

A. Not much - We'd be able to drive to King Salmon instead of taking an airplane - We'd be able to pick up freight.

Q. What other issues need to be examined during this study?

(left blank)

Lucille M. Aspelund

Q. If a bridge were constructed what benefits do you see? What concerns do you have?

A. No economic value right away - later if a road from Anchorage is planned it will help a great deal - It may attract oil explorationalso if a bridge/road is built - concerned that it will change the lifestyle of the local people.

Q.With the construction of a bridge, closure of one or two airports is likely to occur. What impact would this have on your family, work, etc?

A. A great deal as my husband is a north slope worker and needs to get to Anch in a timely manner

Q. What other issues need to be examined during this study?

A. Where the bridge would cross the river - Pave the road to/from the bridge to cut down on dust.

Izetta Chambers

Q. If a bridge were constructed what benefits do you see? What concerns do you have?

A. It would save the school district (& subsequently the Borough) money that they are currently paying to fly the school kids over every day. It would also limit the delays in education that are caused by bad weather & the South Naknek kids not being on time for school. Safety issues involved; also, it would promote hunting and allow for a better subsistence take of game.

Q.With the construction of a bridge, closure of one or two airports is likely to occur. What impact would this have on your family, work, etc?

A. Little impact on my family, but many villagers who use Naknek for shopping, visiting, etc would be greatly impacted. Also, there would be obvious safety issues involved with a runway open from the sky & not open to the public?

Q. What other issues need to be examined during this study?

A. The impact this extra air traffic would have on the King Salmon airport would need to be examined especially in light of the prospect of closing down the (air traffic control) tower in King Salmon. Dangerous combination!!

Dolly Herrmann

Q. If a bridge were constructed what benefits do you see? What concerns do you have?

A. Children having to travel by air to school from S NK to North Naknek. I have seen airplane that would have gone into the water if it had not been frozen. This plane had a load of passengers (school children). Dure to inclement weather there is always problems finding host families for them also.

Q.With the construction of a bridge, closure of one or two airports is likely to occur. What impact would this have on your family, work, etc?

A. We need to air vac people to Kanakanuk Hospital or Anchorage. My husband had to be air vaced to Dillingham several times in 2002 from North Naknek.

Q. What other issues need to be examined during this study?

A. Look closely at concerns addressed. I'm for the bridge & airport needs.
