About OJT
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) has instituted the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program as a condition of continued funding for federal-aid highway construction projects. Historically, it has been recognized that a need exists to train women and minority employees in the construction trades. As a result, the objectives of the ADOT&PF OJT program are to:
- Provide training and improve the skills of women and minorities so that they have the opportunity and access to higher paying skilled trade jobs and achieve journeyman status; and
- Broaden the labor pool to meet the projected future labor needs in the construction industry
