Reuben Yost Appointed Alaska DOT&PF Deputy Commissioner

(JUNEAU, Alaska) – Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) Commissioner Pat Kemp announced today the appointment of Reuben Yost to deputy commissioner. He will begin his new role with the department January 16, 2013.

“Reuben has extensive knowledge of Alaska transportation issues,” said Kemp. “He has been involved with regional transportation plans, rural aviation, design and construction of capital projects, maintenance and operations of state owned assets, and supervising the environmental analysis for numerous highways, airports, state ferries, ferry terminals and harbors. The department will benefit greatly from his expertise.”

As deputy commissioner, Yost will oversee the divisions of Measurement Standards and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Alaska Marine Highway System and Special Projects. His office will be located in Juneau.

Yost has been with ADOT&PF since 1994 and previously served as the southeast region director of construction, maintenance and operations. Before joining the department, Yost was a commercial fisherman and a teacher in Alaska. He served on the Pelican City Council from 1985-1988 and as mayor in 1988-1989. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial education and a master’s degree in zoology.

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities oversees 255 airports, 11 ferries serving 35 communities, 5,619 miles of highway and 720 public facilities throughout the state of Alaska. The mission of the department is to “Get Alaska Moving through service and infrastructure.”
