AMHS Kicks Off Golden Anniversary

(JUNEAU, Alaska) – The Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and is inviting everyone across Alaska and elsewhere to join in the festivities. Throughout 2013 AMHS will be honoring its storied history through community events, special anniversary contests and much more.

To ring in the New Year, AMHS is awarding special anniversary “Golden Tickets” during monthly drawings and other promotional events. The lucky travelers who win will be eligible to redeem their Golden Ticket for any passenger travel up to $500 on the Alaska Marine Highway System. For a chance to win, sign up online at FerryAlaska.com/50years.

As part of the celebration, the history of AMHS will be shared online throughout the year at FerryAlaska.com/50years. Here stories, photos, maps, news articles and other historical items will be documented as part a timeline that will grow each month. In addition, even more information will be posted on Facebook at facebook.com/AlaskaMarineHighway where visitors are also encouraged to share their own stories and photos with fellow travelers.
