Yakutia Airlines to Begin Seasonal Service July 12, 2012

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) –Yakutia Airlines has announced that final approval has been received from the US and Russian governments to operate passenger and cargo service between the Eastern Russia city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Anchorage, Alaska. 

Scheduled service will begin on July 12, 2102 and will run weekly through September 13, 2012, utilizing Boeing 737-700 aircraft.  The flight time is approximately 4.5 hours.

Tickets are to be available beginning May 18, 2012 through most global distribution systems, the AirRussia.US sales network, and Yakutia Airlines' representative in the US, InterPacific Aviation and Marketing.

The Alaska International Airport System (AIAS) - comprised of Ted Stevens Anchorage and Fairbanks International Airports - is home to over 30 international and domestic airlines providing passenger and cargo service throughout Alaska, the United States, Europe, and Asia. AIAS is an extraordinary economic engine; serving nearly 6 million passengers per year and accounting for 1 in 10 jobs in Anchorage and 1 in 20 jobs in Fairbanks.  The purpose of AIAS is "To Keep Alaska Flying and Thriving."

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) oversees 254 airports, 11 ferries serving 34 communities, 5,700 miles of highway and 660 public facilities throughout the state of Alaska. The mission of DOT&PF is to “Get Alaska Moving through service and infrastructure.”
