1. Lake Hood Seaplane Base Frozen Lakes: Winter operations are soon to be in effect, and we are requesting everyone’s help to spread the reminder to please stay off the ice. The frozen lakes remain restricted active runway surfaces all winter for ski operations. For further information please contact the Lake Hood Office at 907-266-2410.

2. Airport Concessions: Denali Pretzels recently opened serving hot pretzels, Kaladi Brothers Coffee and Krispy Kreme doughnuts located pre-security across from Ravn Alaska ticket counters. A post-security location will be opening soon.

3. ANC Police & Fire:

  • Free Hands Only CPR Training: Qualified staff from Alaska Regional Hospital and Airport Police and Fire will provide training on how to be an active bystander, learn hands only CPR, use of AED, and also early detection of signs and symptoms for early heart attack care. On December 3rd, 2019, 6 sessions will be offered. Each session will take about 30-45 minutes. This class will meet in the Main Lobby of Ted Stevens Airport - North Terminal Badging Office located at 4600 Postmark Dr, Anchorage, AK 99502.  Parking will be validated.  Please note that this course is practical only and will not provide certifications or course completion cards.   • Commission for Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA): The Anchorage Airport Police Department is undergoing an international accreditation process - the first of its kind for any law enforcement agency in Alaska.  Anyone wishing to provide feedback or comment is encouraged to do so.  As part of the assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session Tuesday, December 10th, 2019. A teleconference will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm, with a public hearing beginning at 5:00 pm. The session will be conducted in the Field and Equipment Maintenance Complex Conference Room, located at 5740 DeHavilland Avenue off Postmark Drive, Anchorage. 4. Passenger Drop-off/Pick-up: This holiday season we are reminding the public when you pick up/drop off passengers at the airport the driver of the vehicle must always stay with the vehicle.  Vehicles on the curb cannot be left unattended and are subject to a Police citation and a TSA fine.  The curb is for active loading and unloading of passengers. Sitting and waiting for someone is not allowed. South Terminal parking garage is free up to 30 minutes.   Just prior to entering the airport, a cell phone lot is also available to those awaiting arrivals.

5. Cell Phone Parking Lot: If you're picking up passengers, there is a free cell phone lot available for drivers to wait until arriving passengers have deplaned, collected luggage and called to be picked up outside Baggage Claim. The cell phone lot is located in a designated area of the DOTPF Central Region Headquarters parking lot - just two-minutes away from both the South and North Terminals. Directions to the lot: From International Airport Road driving west to the airport, turn right at the Aviation Avenue exit and follow signs to the lot. Drivers must stay with their vehicles. 6. Terminal Music Performances: Throughout the holiday season various elementary schools and musical groups will be performing for the traveling public near the screening checkpoint. A schedule of performances will be posted on the airport website at anchorageairport.com.

7. Real ID:

  • Beginning October 1, 2020, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or other acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States. If your Alaska driver’s license does not have a star in the top right corner it is not REAL ID compliant. For more information, visit doa.alaska.gov/dmv/.
  • By January 2020 Alaskans will be able to avoid the lines at the DMV and get their Real ID at ANC. ANC and Alaska DMV are partnering to ensure every Alaskan traveler has their REAL ID or other acceptable forms of ID required to travel. Information on operation timing and location coming soon.

6. Airport Recruitment: The Airport is recruiting for equipment mechanics and operators, as well as facility maintenance positions.
