What's life like onboard the Alaska Marine Highway? Find out in our new two-minute video postcard. You'll see wildlife, port towns, passengers, crew, beautiful scenery - and, of course, our ships! It's a great way to get a feel for what the Alaska Marine Highway is all about.
We posted this video on our Facebook page and received some very positive feedback. One of our fans, Martha Nelson commented, "Such wonderful memories. Oh, and pitching a tent on the deck to sleep under the stars was the highlight of each trip. Bring duct tape!" The state ferry system offers a unique way to travel to and throughout Alaska. Although there are cabins available to rent onboard most vessels, as Martha mentions, you can also set up your own tent on the back deck, or just bring your sleeping bag and unwind in the recliner lounge or solarium.
Another Facebook fan Mary Blain Arndt writes, "Video is good but to really enjoy, you have to be there," and we agree. There is plenty of time left in the summer to get out and explore the Great Land, and our winter schedules are now available, so start making your fall plans today.
