Bellingham

The Bellingham Traverse is a multi-sport event for solo, tandem and relay teams. The event has a strong salmon theme running through it. Participants, aka Spawners, are encouraged to “Think Like Fish” as they go through the course. This is a community event that displays a wide range of athletic abilities from the hard-core to those out in costumes just for fun. The public is encouraged to come out and cheer on the Spawners.

Juneau

Get ready for winter and visit Juneau for Discover Eaglecrest Day. It's a great time to get your 2014-15 Eaglecrest Season Pass, Multi-Visit Card, and Snowsports School products at pre-season prices. Events are scheduled from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Enjoy the Alpine Barbeque and Beer Garden. Take a free spin on the Porcupine Chairlift or an Alaska Zipline tour at a special rate. Take in the final stages of the Juneau Freewheelers Mountain Bike Tour of Eaglecrest. Children of all ages will enjoy the Decomposition Decathalon (noon to 3pm) with fun, interactive events and storytime (11am to 3pm) with stories featuring winter sports and activities.

While in Petersburg enjoy the Humpy 500 Go-Cart-Race. This event features a kids go-cart race with elaborately decorated entrants. Kids are judged on their costumes, pit crews costumes and design of their cart. They are also timed on two runs down PFI Hill into the catching area. Big prizes and lots of excitement-rain or shine.

Kodiak

Saturday, October 11

Visit Kodiak for the Run the Rock Marathon. KMXT's Annual Run the Rock features a marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k - something for everyone! Races start at staggered times and all end at Bear Valley Golf Course. Join KMXT for a family friendly time - participants in the races all get a t-shirt and a bbq meal after the race. The marathon, half marathon and 10k are certified courses by USATF.

Visit Sitka for the Alaska Day Festival. The actual transfer ceremony occurred in Sitka when the United States purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867. Celebrations include ceremonies, a period costume ball, dances, dinners, contests, a parade and more!
